GuideStar Launches State-of-the-Art Nonprofit Search
New Functionality Uses Industry-Leading Technology for Faster Results and Real-Time Filtering
WASHINGTON, DC-GuideStar, the world's largest source of information on nonprofit organizations, today launched a redesigned, state-of-the-art search experience built on industry-leading technologies. The new search produces more accurate and relevant results. Users can then filter those results in real time to quickly and easily identify and better understand the organizations relevant to their research.
The new GuideStar Search also makes it easier to identify organizations working in specific fields, cause areas, or locations. Nonprofits can use these tools to inform their strategic planning and identify potential partners. Funders can see where a field is well served or under served. Donors can get crucial information on the range, capability, and impact of nonprofits working in a region or on a particular issue.
"We're excited to introduce the new GuideStar Search," stated Jacob Harold, GuideStar's president and CEO. "Our new search is the latest improvement we've made to the GuideStar experience. In January, we introduced our new Nonprofit Profiles. In May, we launchedGuideStar Platinum to allow nonprofits to add performance metrics to their profiles. Now we've rebuilt our search functionality from the ground up. These changes make it easier to find information about nonprofits and make better giving decisions."
The new GuideStar Search features:
- A fresh, easier-to-use design
- Faster, more accurate results
- The ability to filter results in real time
- More dynamic and more flexible filtering capabilities
- Mobile optimization
- An enhanced ability to find groups of nonprofits by location, mission, size, or a combination of these criteria
GuideStar actively solicited external perspectives in creating the new search. "We interviewed dozens of technology professionals, nonprofit and foundation staff, consultants, and others," noted Evan Paul, GuideStar's vice president, products. "We reviewed comments in the GuideStar Community. We looked at discussions in the sector. These insights informed the changes we've made to our site this year. Improving the GuideStar experience is an ongoing process. We'll continue to gather feedback from our users to learn how we can serve them better."
The new GuideStar Search is available from the GuideStar home page and atwww.guidestar.org/search. On August 24, GuideStar will offer a live, interactive demo of the new search.
