April 17, 2019 (Atlanta, GA) This past February, Foundation Center joined forces with GuideStar to become Candid, a single nonprofit organization committed to providing research, tools, and trainings to social sector professionals around the world. In the year ahead, Candid plans to reach even more communities through its 400+ Funding Information Network (FIN) partners in the United States and around the world. In the meantime, Foundation Center South will become known as Candid South, and will continue to develop game-changing training programs and convenings, but will be shifting the way it works to better serve Southern communities.

Bringing Candid’s vision to life requires a transformative approach to how we deliver programs and services to nonprofits—on the ground and online.

“We’re very excited to bring more and varied capacity-building opportunities to the social sector in community-based settings and in greater partnerships with our regional FIN partners,” said Maria Azuri, Director of Foundation Center South. “This change will enable greater access to timely and relevant tools, trainings, and convenings in communities, where impact really takes place!”

Through deeper and closer collaboration with community partners, Candid will ensure that quality in-person reference services are available far and wide. Overall efforts will be shifted from maintaining direct-service locations to focusing on FINs, many of which are in Atlanta, GA, and surrounding areas throughout Georgia and the South.

Candid has already begun redirecting library customers to nearby FIN locations and is in the final stages of selecting its new home in Atlanta. Foundation Center South’s resource center at 133 Peachtree Street will close to the public on May 16. While their new location will not be open for public access, they will be increasing their presence in Southern communities. Some trainings will be hosted on-site at their new home, although an increased focus will be placed on bringing trainings to communities through local FINs. Pop-up visits and trainings at local FINs and other convenient places in metro Atlanta have already been scheduled. Go to GrantSpace for a complete listing of programs and scheduled visits so far.
