How to search for prospects

1

Tip 1: Start your search with a simple phrase

candid search bar find nonprofit funding

Enter a short phrase that describes your work—such as your field of work and where your organization is looking to be funded.

Remember, it’s best to start your search broadly as grantmakers classify their funding support in many different ways. For example, start your search with “performing arts in New York City” instead of “ballet in New York City.”

Note: Click on the Organization type drop-down to refine results to show only Grantmakers.

Tip 2: Sort your search results by grants given

You can sort your search results in a variety of ways—alphabetically, by total assets, by total revenue, or by Seal level. But above all else, fundraisers are looking for grantmakers with a good track record of past giving. Try sorting by grants given to see the number of grants a grantmaker has given and the number of recipients who received them.

Tip 3: Use intuitive filters to refine your search results

Use filters to refine your broader search results. With insights from the grantmaker, grant and recipient profiles, consider how you might want to filter further— for example, filtering by Subject area or Geographic area served are two of the most common ways to find grantmakers aligned with your organization.

Only use as many additional filters as required so you don’t miss a funder that may be interested in your work!
