Candid insights publication guidelines
Interested in contributing an article to Candid insights? Here’s what you need to know.
What we publish:
Candid insights publishes analytical or educational articles that inform the sector’s work, including pieces focused on data, research findings, and their implications:
- Thought leadership, expert analyses, and lessons learned around sector issues and trends
- Data-driven insights
- Practical advice for nonprofits and funders
What we do not publish:
- Opinion/commentary, calls to action, or content that is partisan or political
- Press releases and news items
- Interviews, profiles, book reviews, etc.
- Annual reports
- Submissions from content marketers
- Content that has already been published on another platform
Our audience:
Our primary audience is nonprofit staff. Our readers also include foundation staff, philanthropy infrastructure organization staff, researchers/academics, and journalists.
Basic editorial guidelines:
- Word count: approximately 750 words
- Not a conventional op-ed with an appeal or advocacy/policy position, but rather an analytical or educational resource that informs the sector’s work, including articles focused on data, research findings, and their implications
- In alignment with Candid’s values of being direct and accessible, written in reader-friendly, straightforward language that appeals not only to sector experts but to the broadest possible audience
- No self-promotional content, but discussion of strategies and innovative approaches are welcome
- All data sources hyperlinked
