Stephanie is a Lead Researcher at Candid, where she analyzes complex data to help the social sector address its most critical questions. Stephanie is passionate about bridging research with practice through practical interventions, improvement science, and advanced statistical analyses. She is an educational psychologist by training, with experience in motivational interventions, network analysis, leading across differences, and critical life transitions.
Before joining Candid, Stephanie was Director of Global Research at the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL), where she explored how relationships can support engagement and strategies to support emerging leaders worldwide. Prior to CCL, she was an assistant professor of education at the University of Virginia and a Mindset Scholars Network fellow. She partnered with two statewide higher education systems to support student retention and helped develop interventions to bolster student motivation. She has published in academic and popular press outlets to apply research on widely-studied psychological constructs—from purpose to psychological safety—to real-world challenges. Most of her research has focused on adolescence, early adulthood, and the workplace.
Stephanie holds a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology and Educational Technology from Michigan State University, an M.A. in Developmental Psychology from Duke University, and a B.A. in Psychology from Reed College.
