Kate Tkacik Sweeney is senior director of development at Candid. Kate, along with the development team, is responsible for delivering on Candid’s annual fundraising goals and engaging Candid’s funders in support of a more efficient, effective, and equitable social sector.
Kate has more than 15 years of experience in grant writing, foundation research, nonprofit strategy, and work in special libraries. She has focused her career on helping connect people with resources and one another. Before joining Candid in this role in September 2023, she held fundraising roles in private higher education and as an independent consultant. She is a librarian by training and originally joined Candid as a nonprofit librarian in 2014, before going on to lead Candid’s community access program until 2020.
Kate holds a Master of Library and Information Science from Dominican University, as well as a Master of Arts in English and Bachelor of Arts in English Degree both from St. Bonaventure University. Kate lives on Maryland’s eastern shore with her family. Off the clock, she coaches CrossFit, trains weightlifting, and enjoys going out for a long brunch.
