Founder and Director, Beadly Speaking Jewelry
Dyon Davidson was born and raised in Montego Bay, Jamaica, and immigrated to the U.S. as a child with her family. Dyon’s transformative journey is a testament to resilience and dedication. A seasoned educator with 21 years of experience, her path took a pivotal turn in 2004 when her mother suffered a brain aneurysm. In response, Dyon taught herself jewelry making—unintentionally discovering a therapeutic outlet that not only aided her mother’s recovery but also became a catalyst for positive change in her community.
Dyon is a proud product of the Baltimore City Public School System, both as a student and later as an educator. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Morgan State University and a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) from Towson University.
Fueled by a passion for empowerment, Dyon has dedicated herself to volunteering, teaching jewelry making, entrepreneurship, and leadership. In 2018, she secured funding from The Baltimore Children and Youth Fund, launching Beadly Speaking Kidz—a virtual jewelry-making program for children during the pandemic. Her impact has been recognized through numerous accolades, including the 2022 Baltimore’s Promise Award, BCYF Grassroots Fund, Creative Baltimore Fund, BGE Small Business Grant, and BCIITY Grant.
Beyond her creative work, Dyon shares her expertise by educating others on the grant writing process. Affectionately called “Resilience” for her ability to overcome challenges, she has used jewelry making as a personal healing practice—especially after her 2014 diagnosis of Lupus and Sjögren’s syndrome. Her workshops are designed to foster inclusivity, support, and personal growth, equipping participants with artistic, social, and entrepreneurial skills that extend far beyond the craft.
Dyon Davidson remains a beacon of transformation, turning adversity into purpose and using her artistry to inspire healing, creativity, and success in others.
