Sarah (BJ) Sung, Founder and Principal of Pinnacle Social Impact Consultancy, works with corporations, nonprofits, foundations, and families/individuals to have a greater social impact in communities they serve. With over 20 concurrent years of experience in corporate social responsibility (CSR) and nonprofit management, BJ has extensive knowledge of the philanthropic and nonprofit sectors and has a keen sense of strategic opportunities for social impact. As a CSR professional at Citigroup, she built strategic partnerships, created impact programs, helped to increase Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) ratings, trained and placed executives on nonprofit boards, and managed a company–wide employee volunteerism program. During her tenure at a major utility company in NYC, she developed a hallmark science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) program, which included a city–wide festival in the five boroughs, visits to museums, and scholarships to 14 NYC colleges. BJ also funded and implemented capacity building programs for hundreds of nonprofit partners including volunteer engagement, board leadership, succession planning, organizational development strategy, and operational excellence. As the Board Chair of the Korean American Family Service Center (KAFSC), BJ successfully grew the organization, tripling their operating budget, led a merger, and diversified the board. Currently, she is a board member and Development Chair of Nonprofit New York, Community Board member in Manhattan District 5, President of the Korean International Women Network – New York Chapter, and remains as Chair Emerita of KAFSC. After working in the corporate philanthropy and nonprofit fields for over two decades, BJ now uses the breadth and depth of her experiences to work with corporations and nonprofit organizations to develop smart, effective strategies to be more effective and achieve greater social impact.
