Alena Owen is a strategic leader with 12 years of experience spanning global health, philanthropy, and community engagement. She most recently served as Program Director at Global Washington, where she shaped organizational strategy and built partnerships across a diverse network of global development leaders.
Alena’s career has centered on advancing health equity and expanding access to care. At PATH, she led global advocacy initiatives focused on digital health transformation in low- and middle-income countries. Earlier, at the Gates Foundation, she managed grants and cultivated partnerships focused on global philanthropic impact. She is a staunch advocate for reproductive rights and serves as President of the Board of Directors for Pro-Choice Washington, an advocacy organization working to expand access to abortion and reproductive healthcare in the Pacific Northwest region.
Alena holds an M.P.H. from UC Berkeley and a B.A. from Gonzaga University. A lifelong Washington State resident, she is passionate about the connective work that bridges communities, sectors, and geographies to promote health equity and human dignity.
