Chris Maddocks is the Senior Vice President of Digital at Avalon, where he leads Avalon Digital and helps organizations acquire, engage, and grow relationships with supporters through integrated digital fundraising and marketing strategies.

With more than 20 years of experience spanning nonprofit leadership, fundraising, marketing, communications, brand, digital strategy, and agency services, Chris brings a broad perspective to digital engagement and the complete constituent experience. Prior to joining Avalon, Chris served as Global Head of Integrated Strategy at Blue State, where he led marketing, communications, and multichannel fundraising strategy and partnered with major global causes on brand, fundraising, communications, and organizational transformation. He led major engagements for organizations including Doctors Without Borders, the National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI), the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, and Earthjustice. His work has included long-term revenue growth planning, audience segmentation, brand and communications strategy, and large-scale integrated fundraising campaigns.

Chris also brings significant experience from the nonprofit side of the sector. He previously served as Chief Marketing and Communications Officer at March of Dimes, Vice President of Marketing and Communications at UNICEF USA, and Senior Director at Boston Children’s Hospital. Across these roles, he led teams and programs spanning digital and direct response fundraising, creative, communications, media, corporate partnerships, and
audience engagement.

Chris is a nationally-recognized expert on fundraising, brand strategy, digital innovation, and the evolving role of AI in nonprofit marketing. He is an alumni of Earlham College, holds a Master’s degree in Nonprofit Administration from Columbia University and completed post-graduate study at the Harvard Kennedy School.
