David helps community foundations make smarter decisions about the way they operate, leveraging data and knowledge shared by a network of engaged community foundations across the United States. He directs an annual flagship research effort to create financial snapshots of the field and works with individual community foundations to benchmark their performance against peers and perform deep analyses of their own operating models.
Over the last 12 years, all with Candid/Foundation Center, David has brought a focus on detail and drive for results to his evolving partnership with the community foundation field. From 2008-2015, David recruited community foundation Electronic Grant Reporters, managed Foundation Center's pipeline of community foundation-provided grants data, and indexed hundreds of thousands of grant and recipient records for publication across Foundation Center's suite of data products. As Member Services Manager for CF Insights from 2015-2018, David helped establish Foundation Center as the platform's new home after its acquisition from FSG, ensuring a seamless transition for a membership expecting high touch services and clear, actionable takeaways derived from peer data. As Director of CF Insights since 2019, David now sets its overall strategy and oversees its operation. Following the joining of Foundation and GuideStar, David has partnered with colleagues across teams to enhance the overall benefits package for CF Insights members, and kickstarted the process of rebuilding the entire CF Insights membership experience from the ground up.
David holds a B.S. in Psychology, with a minor in Marketing, from Brooklyn College of the City University of New York.
