David is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting, guiding the accounting team in delivering accurate forecasts and financial statements, improving upon the operational efficiencies of the department and helping execute Foundation Center’s long-term, financial strategic goals. He also monitors and evaluates internal controls, develops policies and procedures and is responsible for the annual budget process. David played a key role in Candid’s formation in 2019 helping with the implementation of several new systems, a new chart of accounts and improving procedures to streamline accounting.
David is a Certified Public Accountant with over 20 years of experience in public accounting, internal audit and non-profit. He began his career working for Deloitte & Touche and CohnReznick, and also worked for Wyeth (now Pfizer), Akzo Nobel and Orchid Cellmark, where he started and led the Internal Audit department. Prior to joining Foundation Center, David was Director of Finance for the Armenian Missionary Association of America for over seven years. During that time, he implemented an ERP system, strengthened internal controls and reporting, and streamlined many processes within the 100-year-old organization. David enjoys volunteering as much as he can. After Hurricane Sandy he helped organize volunteers and participated in cleanup activities at the Jersey Shore. He has also coordinated a missions trip to Armenia and has served as a Trustee for his church, a Sunday School teacher, and on the committee for Camp Arevelk. David also serves as one of the co-chairs for the United Philanthropy Forum’s Finance & Admin Peer Community.
David is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New Jersey State Society of Certified Public Accountants. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Southern Connecticut State University, and a Master of Theology from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary.
