Foundation Center West Announces Plan to Redirect In-Person Library Services to Local Community Partners
May 14, 2019 (San Francisco, Calif.)—This past February, Foundation Center joined forces with GuideStar to become Candid, a single nonprofit organization committed to providing research, tools, and trainings to social sector professionals around the world. In the years ahead, Candid plans to reach even more communities through its 400+ Funding Information Network (FIN) partners. In the meantime, Foundation Center West will become known as Candid West, and will continue to develop game-changing training programs and convenings, but will be shifting the way it works to better serve the greater Bay Area and beyond.
Bringing Candid's vision to life requires a transformative approach to program delivery and the services provided to nonprofits—on the ground and online. As part of this process, Foundation Center West will be relocating and will no longer be open to the public as of June 27. Local nonprofits and community members, however, will be able to access Foundation Center resources through the 82 FIN partners in the nation’s western region. Candid has already begun redirecting Foundation Center West library customers to nearby FIN locations.
Foundation Center West staff also will be increasing their presence in local communities. Trainings at local FINs and other convenient places in the Bay Area have already been scheduled. Go to GrantSpace for a complete listing of programs and scheduled visits so far.
“Through deeper and closer collaboration with our network of FIN partners, we’ll ensure that quality in-person reference services are available far and wide,” said Michele Dilworth, director of Foundation Center West. “And rather than asking you to come to us for in-person training or support, our team will be coming to a neighborhood near you.”
FIN partners will provide access to resources nonprofits and the public have come to rely on from Foundation Center: our virtual help desk and reference services; in-person trainings in the area; Foundation Directory Online (FDO), our signature database for finding funding; and Grantspace.org, our one-stop online portal for nonprofit professionals.
